Participation in the “United Nations Global Compact”

In July 2010, our company became a participant in the Global Compact, which is advocated by the United Nations.

As a global company, we intend to promote responsible business management and contribute to creating a sustainable society by supporting the 10 principles upheld in the Global Compact in the areas of “human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption” and by actively engaging in CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities.

About the “United Nations Global Compact”

The United Nations Global Compact is a CSR initiative that was advocated in January 1999 at the Davos Conference of the World Economic Forum by (then) United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan and officially launched at the United Nations Headquarters in New York in July 2000. As of June 2010, there are approximately 8,000 companies and organizations from around the world participating in the Global Compact.

The Global Compact requires participating companies to voluntarily support the 10 principles in the areas of “human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption” and promote CSR activities as responsible corporate citizens. In addition, through these activities, the Global Compact aims at bringing about a sustainable and inclusive global economy, including the achievement of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.
